Humans like to touch, hold and hug when showing affection, whereas pet dogs rarely come into contact with each other unless they are fighting or mating. If your puppy struggles when being lifted, do not lift him up too quick - it's going to give him the same feeling as when you go up too fast in a lift. Get down to his level and bring him into your body as soon as his legs leave the ground so that he feels secure.
